This week we are offering a limited run of chips made from Early Riser Corn. We will be sending $1 of every bag sold to the Northern Flint Consortium, a project of the Nulhegan Abenaki Tribe and Northern Grain Growers Association to further the longstanding efforts of increasing Indigenous food sovereignty in these Wabanaki lands.
Early Riser is an early season open-pollinated corn that our mentor Jack Lazor of Butterworks Farm had an active role in propagating and selecting for. Jack has recently past away and this corn is just one small part of a larger legacy. It's in his memory that we are offering these up to the community.
We are really excited and honored to have some small role in acquainting our neighbors in these northern lands with the corn varieties that have been part of the warp and weave of this landscape for so many generations.
